Arts at the Palace announces 2018 NBT Bank Main Stage Series

Arts at the Palace is thrilled to announce its 2018 NBT Bank Main Stage Series, featuring a dynamic lineup of new and exciting shows as well as returning favorites.

Following 2017’s triumphant portrayal of Henry V, NYC’s Shakespeare in the Square returns to Hamilton April 13 and 14 for two special performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Please note that each performance has a maximum of 80 seats available. Founded in 2010, Shakespeare in the Square is a young company dedicated to performing classics to the hilt. “These are the youths that thunder at a playhouse!” ~ William Shakespeare.

On Saturday, Sept. 15, come witness the historical, heart-breaking, one-woman play Magdalen by Erin Layton. Magdalen is a fictional exploration of the women and children who passed through the Magdalene Laundries as slave laborers to orders of nuns in mid-twentieth century Ireland, and the complicity of the church and society that tried to keep their stories hidden. Originally making its debut in New York City at FringeNYC in the summer of 2012, Magdalen received rave reviews by the theatre community.

On Saturday, Oct. 13, treat your family to an evening of mind-blowing magic and comedy that gets the whole audience into the act. You’ll be stunned and amazed as master illusionist David Caserta has people levitating, disappearing, and reappearing right before your eyes. Families will thrill, laugh and possibly vanish from sight at a magic spectacular like no other. What better way to celebrate Halloween than with an incredible night of magic! You and your entire family will be captivated with dazzling spells, uproarious comedy and audience participation that gets all the ghosts, ghouls, and goblins into the act! David Caserta is one of the top touring illusionists in the country. This is a magic spectacular like nothing else on tour today! Suitable for ages 5 and older.

The NBT Bank Main Stage Series will close for the season Saturday, Nov. 10, with Root Shock. Their unique blend of reggae and heavy drum and bass combined with American roots and soul, and a focus on conscious lyrics result in positive dance music that will make you want to move. The band has been surprising and delighting crowds across the New York region and beyond, bringing their unique high-energy style spearheaded by the stunning soulful vocals and stage presence of Jessica Brown, who delighted Hamilton at Art at the Palace’s annual fundraiser, Winter at the Palace in December. The band’s dedication to spreading music with a positive message has paid off in entertaining, elevating, and energizing music lovers of all walks of life.
