On March 17, 2018, at approximately 9:15 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Bethlehem for a traffic violation. During the interview of the driver, Davon A. Sanders, 27, Utica, and his passenger, Shawntelle R. Spratt, 20, of Utica, probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established.
The search reveled both subjects were in possession of approximately 152 grams of Fentanyl, and approximately 2 grams of marijuana. Both subjects were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany. They were subsequently charged with:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony (two counts)
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony (with intent to sell, two counts)
- Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation (two counts)
- Vehicle and traffic violations (Sanders only)
On March 18, 2018, both subjects were arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to Albany Court Jail without bail. They are scheduled to return to Bethlehem Town Court March 20, 2018, 4 p.m.
