Ilion Man arrested for making bomb threat against Remington Arms Facility

State Police arrested Matthew J. Spaman, 30, of Ilion, for second-degree falsely reporting an incident, a class E felony.

The afternoon of May 3, the village of Ilion Police Department received a report of a possible bomb threat to the Remington Arms facility, which was posted to Facebook by Matthew Spaman. Officers from the Ilion Police Department, along with State Police K9, checked the entire facility and determined the area clear.

Spaman was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned German Flats Town Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail without bail. The Ilion Police Department, Herkimer County Sheriff’s Department and the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
