UPDATE: State Police seek public assistance regarding vandalism case in Oswego County

On Thursday, May 3, 2018, State Police arrested Kody L. Barr, 21, of Mexico, on the following charges:

  • Second-degree criminal mischief (D felony)
  • First-degree cemetery desecration (E felony)
  • Petit larceny (A misdemeanor)
  • Unlawful dealing with a child (give alcohol to a person under 21 – A misdemeanor)

Barr was arraigned in the town of Mexico Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash/$40,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in the town of Mexico Court on May 8, 2018 at 7 p.m.

A 16 year-old male was also charged with Cemetery Desecration 1st degree (E-felony). Due to eligibility for juvenile offender status, his name will not be released.

The New York State Police are attempting to locate 21-year-old, Kody L. Barr who is a suspect in the cemetery desecration case which occurred in the village of Mexico Cemetery on March 31, 2018.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Kody Barr, they are asked to contact State Police in Pulaski at (315) 298-1473 or State Police Headquarters at (315) 366-6000 and reference case number 8161580.

The New York State Police in Pulaski are investigating a criminal mischief to the Village of Mexico Cemetery on Academy Street, Mexico. Numerous head stones were pushed over and damaged. This occurred between March 31, 2018 and April 1, 2018 in the historic area of the cemetery.
