Syracuse woman charged with welfare fraud, grand larceny

Madison County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Anne Marie Reeves, 25, of 216 Blanchard Blvd., Syracuse, on charges of fourth-degree welfare fraud (a class E felony) and fourth-degree grand larceny in the (a class E felony).

It is alleged that Reeves failed to notify the Madison County Department of Social Services that she had been married since December of 2017. Because Reeves had been receiving public assistance, she was required to report her spouse’s income within 10 days of getting married; by failing to report this, she committed a fraudulent act and therefore unlawfully received $1,033 in public assistance that she would not have received if she reported her spouse’s income.

Reeves was issued an appearance ticket for May 22, 2018, in Lenox Town Court to answer the charges.
