Discussions focus on new legal counsel, Kriemhild butter plant expansion, 2018 road repair plan, acquiring used highway truck

Town of Lebanon officials will gather for the monthly town board meeting on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:30 pm to appoint new legal counsel for the town, receive an update from the Partnership for Community Development on the Kriemhild butter plant expansion in the township, adopt a road repair plan for 2018 that now has verifiable state CHIPS funding and finalize acquisition of a used 2004 Stadium International Truck from the Village of Hamilton for town use.

The public is invited to attend.

Town officials will be considering the appointment of the legal firm of Costello, Cooney and Fearon to act as the town’s municipal legal counsel due to Attorney for the Town Steven Jones having to discontinue his duties as a result of medical issues. Costello, Cooney and Fearon currently represent the towns of Lenox, Cazenovia and Sullivan and are also being considered by the Town of Hamilton.

The Partnership for Community Development will give an update on the Kriemhild butter plan expansion grant for the Rte. 12 B facility that is expected to add four new local jobs.

Town officials will consider adopting the attached road repair plan for 2018 that includes:

Local General Repairs of Church Road and Briggs Road along with road patch for $62,000.

Road Reconstruction and Repair of town roads utilizing state CHIPs funds including Thompson Hill Road, Betts Road, portions of  Briggs Road.

CHIPS funds of $129,301, PAVE NY funds of $23,186 and EWR funds of $19,746 for a total of $172,234 in state funding for town roads.

A public comment period was held on the  proposed road plan at the April town board meeting but no public comment was offered.

Town officials will also finalize purchase of a used 2004 six wheel Stadium International heavy duty truck for $15,000 from the Village of Hamilton that will be used as a backup truck this winter.

Other items on the agenda include:

  • Code Enforcement update and scheduling of expanded hours.
  • Insurance Renewal with NYMIR for June board meeting
  • Madison County updates on ambulance, plastic bag ban, host community payments from local casinos, plastics to oil and deputizing OIN police initiatives
  • Status of LMLL and animal land use law changes given change in legal counsel.
  • Follow-up to successful cleanup day that filled two county dumpsters.
  • Fund transfer and budget status
