Keaton Ackermann recognized with year-end league award

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student-athlete Keaton Ackermann of Erieville has been recognized by the Liberty League with a post-season award for his efforts on the lacrosse field.

A junior defenseman, Ackermann (Cazenovia High School) was named to the All-Liberty League First Team after starting all 10 games he played. He scored twice with an assist, had eight shots (6 on goal), 17 ground balls and a team-high 21 caused turnovers – despite missing five early season games due to injuries.

He had at least one caused turnover in nine games and multiple CTOs in five contests, including six in one and four in another.

Ackermann, who is also an All-League wide receiver, was the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week and named to the USILA National Team of the Week once each. This is the second time in his career he garnered All-League in lacrosse, having been selected to the Second Team as a sophomore.

Rensselaer, which is coached by Jim Townsend, went 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the Liberty League. The Engineers were nationally-ranked for the latter half of the season, climbing as high as 17th in the USILA Poll.
