Preferred Mutual and Gates-Cole Insurance co-host car seat event
On Saturday, May 5, Preferred Mutual Insurance Company (“Preferred Mutual”) and Gates-Cole Insurance co-hosted free child car seat inspections at the third annual Touch-A-Truck event in Norwich.
During the Car Seat Event, members of the community were invited to have their child’s car seat inspected for free by certified Child Passenger Safety technicians from the Family Enrichment Network, Norwich Police Department and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department. Inspectors checked that car seats were properly installed and met current safety regulations. If not, adjustments would be made, or car seats would be replaced free of charge.
Car and booster seats provide protection for infants and children in a crash, so choosing the right car seat and having it properly installed are vital to keeping children safe while in a vehicle.
Overall, 13 inspections were completed with nine car seats being replaced and two receiving adjustments for a stronger, tighter installation. Information was also available on how to match your child to the correct car or booster seat based on age, weight and height.
