Rep. Claudia Tenney

Tenney to host workshop providing local small businesses with cybersecurity information

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) announced that on July 31, she will host a cybersecurity workshop to help small businesses understand the threats they are facing and assist them to mitigate the risks.

The event is cosponsored by the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Mohawk Valley SBDC. She will be joined by Joseph Giordano, vice president of Anjolen, a small business that specializes in cybersecurity and Michelle Tuttle, chief training and development manager at Anjolen.

“Nearly 50 percent of small businesses experience cyber-attacks,” Tenney said. “Small businesses rarely have the additional resources to invest in improving cyber security as it is an often a complex and costly undertaking. This gives bad actors the opportunity to exploit small business in cyberspace,” said Tenney. “Small business owners already face a laundry list of red tape and compliance costs just to keep their business afloat. This workshop will arm small businesses with the tools they need to stop a cyber-attack in its tracks.”

The event will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Rome Chamber of Commerce, 139 W. Dominick St.. There is no fee to attend, but pre-registration is required, as space is limited. Register at eventbrite.com/e/cybersecurity-best-practices-for-small-businesses-tickets-46935637756.
