Stockbridge Valley High School wins NYS maple contest
Stockbridge Valley’s Agriculture program earned a first place prize in this year’s Schoolyard Sugaring Maple Syrup Contest. It’s the second year SVCS has won their division in the 2-year-old contest.
New York Agriculture in the Classroom and the New York State Maple Foundation sponsor the contest. In it, students and teachers partner with a maple producer to learn about the maple syrup process, careers in the maple field and the business and industry of maple production.
A judges panel of maple producers reviewed 50 syrup entries from elementary, middle and high school divisions, scoring submissions for sugar content, clarity, color and taste. Stockbridge Valley took first place in the High School Division and will receive a $250 prize.
