Democratic Committee issues statement on Miner announcement to run for governor
Madison County Democratic Committee Chairman Mike Oot issued the following statement on Stephanie Miner’s announcement of her intent to run for governor
“I’m very disappointed that former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner is challenging Governor [Andrew] Cuomo and, not surprisingly, her announcement was immediately embraced by the Republican challenger,” Oot said. “Ms. Miner has spent her political career as a Democrat, and if she wanted to challenge the Governor she had the perfect venue at the State Democratic Convention. She failed to do it.
“None of this makes sense. In this year, more than any other, New Yorkers must stand firm and united against the Trump Administration as it wages war against New Yorkers. If her presence in the race increases the risk of electing a Trump supporter to the highest office in the state, her decision to run could deal a devastating blow to New York’s citizens.”
