Noted Preservationist Leads Walking Tour of Historic Morrisville

Carl D. Stearns, partner emeritus and consultant at the architectural and historical preservation firm Crawford & Stearns will guide a walking architectural tour of Morrisville’s historic buildings in the village center on Wednesday, June 27 at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by the Morrisville Historic Preservation Commission, the historical and architectural tour will begin in the charming neo-Gothic style Morrisville Public Library located on Main Street (State Route 20, opposite Madison Hall) at 7 p.m. Stearns will provide an introduction to the tour and “set the stage” as he put it, with historical and architectural background information.

Stearns, a licensed architect with an advanced degree in preservation planning, is a partner emeritus in Crawford & Stearns in Syracuse who specializes in architectural conservation and restoration, historic assessments of buildings and adaptive reuse of historic properties. He formerly served as the senior historic sites restoration coordinator for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Mr. Stearns has served as guest lecturer throughout the state and has been a very active participant in the New York State Barn Coalition.

During the walking tour, Stearns will highlight the various architectural styles and features of the many interesting buildings in Morrisville.
