Summer lecture series continues

The next in a summer series of lectures will be a special celebration of the French settlers of our area in honor of Bastille Day. The talk, entitled “The Mysterious Mr. Muller and his Hill,” is the story of Louis Anthe Muller and all those who fled France and settled here in our area and will be front and center.

The talk is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 7 p.m. at the historic Old Auction Barn n Route 26 in Eaton.

Brought to you by Friends of the Old Town of Eaton Museum, noted historian Back Street Mary, will unravel the mystery of the French Muller who came to America with a trunk of gold and built a mansion in today’s Georgetown. Was he Louis the X in hiding, or was he just a hated member of the French ruling segment that fled the guillotine in the Reign of Terror?

French pies and goodies, as well as ice cream, will be on hand before the talk at 6 p.m. to raise money for the Old Town of Eaton Museum.

Come enjoy the summer evening, and join the group in saluting the great history of the area’s settlement.

Rain date is Thursday, July 19, 2018.
