House passes Tenney co-sponsored bipartisan bill permanently repealing medical device tax

The House passed Congresswoman Claudia Tenney’s (NY-22) cosponsored bill, H.R. 184 – Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2018. This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to repeal Obamacare’s excise tax on the sale of a medical device by the manufacturer, producer, or importer.

“Upstate New Yorkers deserve health care options that empower them, their families and their doctors while preserving coverage protections and peace of mind,” Tenney said. “Obamacare’s job-killing 2.3 percent excise tax on importers and manufacturers of medical devices cost American jobs and drove up health care cost. This common-sense piece of legislation will result in the return of thousands of American jobs and bring us one step closer to comprehensive health care reform.”

Recently, the Tax Foundation released a report providing more reasons to repeal the medical device tax.
