The OPL moves to Allen Park to host Community Drum Circle Aug. 9

On Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., Oneida Public Library is sponsoring a Community Drum Circle and Picnic at Allen Park on Broad St., Oneida, so area families can come together and enjoy a summer’s evening to the beat of many different drums.

To enjoy the event fully, families should bring a picnic dinner, lawn chairs and drums of any kind or description, from bought bongo drums to an overturned bucket. The library will offer the children an opportunity to play in lawn games and ice cream treats.

The Drum Circle will be “conducted” by Ibrahim Samura, Breyt Coakley and Marco Rodegher. Each will introduce different styles and rhythms and guide all the picnickers with drums to join in.

Guests will also have a chance to join in sing-alongs.

The Allen Park event is free and open to all ages. For more information, drop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call the library at (315) 363-3050.
