Great Swamp Conservancy to host 17th annual Fall Migration Festival Sept. 15

The Great Swamp Conservancy will honor migratory birds preparing for a long journey at its 17th annual Fall Migration Festival.

A live birds of prey presentation will be offered by Page’s Wildlife Center, which is bringing eight unreleasable raptors. Page has been rehabilitating wild animals for more than 30 years, specializing in birds of prey. Her programs focus on predator-prey relationships, adaptations birds develop for their specific environments and the role birds of prey have in the ecosystem.

Artists, crafters and various vendors will be participating in the buildings and on the lawns.

Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association, Utica Zoo Mobile, 7 Trees Goat Farm and a petting zoo will provide animals of all kinds and sizes.

Visit the Wetland Creatures table, Year of the Heron booth, and the Madison County Health Department exhibit.

Kids will be challenged at the outdoor rock climbing wall and the kid’s fun run. The butterfly tent will be prepared to release butterflies in the afternoon.

The Fall Migration Festival features nature activities, local musicians, food – Including the favorite chicken barbecue – and much more.

This fundraiser benefits the GSC’s conservation and education/awareness efforts.  Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under, with a family maximum of $8.

For more information, call 315.697.2950 or email greatswampconservancy@gmail.com. The GSC is located at the corner of North Main Street at Pine Ridge Road, just north of the village of Canastota.
