Troopers respond to local apartment complex after a human skull is discovered
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at 2:45 p.m., state police responded to the apartment complex located at 2984 Route 11 in the town of Lafayette for a reported human skull found near a dumpster.
Investigators, with a state police cadaver K-9, responded to the scene.
Investigation revealed that the skull belonged to a local resident who had just moved out and discarded the skull in a dumpster behind the apartment complex. A local resident stated children were seen playing with items in and near the dumpster a couple days ago and believed that they may have removed the skull from the dumpster.
The skull was secured and taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
The investigation continues.
