Canastota to host Special Olympics Autumn Games

Approximately 300 athletes from Madison and Oneida counties, including from Madison-Oneida BOCES, Oneida, Madison, Hamilton, Morrisville-Eaton, Stockbridge, Chittenango, Canastota, Camden, Cazenovia and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, will be participating Oct. 10, 2018, in such track and field events as the softball throw, shot put, running long jump, standing long jump and distance races.

Adapted activities will also take place.

Rain date is Oct. 11.

Autumn Games will be hosted by Canastota High School at its athletic complex, 102 Roberts St., Canastota.

Opening ceremonies will take place on the athletic field, beginning with the ‘Parade of Athletes,’ at 9:30 a.m., and recitation of the Special Olympics oath. The event wraps up at 1 p.m.
