A Photo Flashback, Photography from Cuba

Stephen Parker, a lifetime resident of Central New York presents “A Photo Flashback, Photography from Cuba and other walks though out the last four years” at the Canastota Public Library from October 1 through Oct. 31.

The photo flashbacks that make up this show include photographs from Parker’s recent tour of Cuba as well as other places he has visited in the last four years.  His work has been described as colorful, playful and energetic.  After President Obama restored U.S. diplomatic relations with Cuba, Parker took a seven day visit to the country.

His photographs show the rich festive street life of Old Havana and its surrounding villages.  Peppered through his work are the old model cars, cigars and beautiful colors and people of Cuba.

A reception and brief discussion of his photography will be held on Wednesday, October 3 in the Lawson Community Room at the library.  All are invited to attend the reception and meet with Stephen Parker.

Parker has worked as a professional photographer, photo instructor, photography judge and lifetime student of the history of photography for more than five decades.  In his professional life, Parker is credited as working as a sports photographer for Syracuse University for over 30 years.  He also acted as an official photographer in 1996 during the Atlantic Olympic Games.

The Canastota Public Library is located at 102 W. Center Street in Canastota.  The library hosts an art show each month featuring the wonderful artistic talent of local people.
