Tenney bill expanding oversight of Opioid Prescribing and Payment Act passes Senate, headed to president’s desk

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22), member of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, announced that her bill,H.R. 5723, the Expanding Oversight of Opioid Prescribing and Payment Act of 2018 which was included in H.R. 6, passed the Senate and is now headed to the president’s desk to be signed into law.

“Often, an addiction to opioids begins with a prescription for pain management,” Tenney said. “My bill, the Expanding Oversight of Opioid Prescribing and Payment Act, works to identify and roll back barriers that have inhibited the use of non-opioid alternatives to treat pain. I look forward to President Trump swiftly signing this important legislation into law and helping to put an end to this epidemic that tears families apart.”

Tenney legislation included on pages 251 and 252 of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act.
