Mohawk Valley Rotary Club presents five-course food and beer pairing

Mohawk Valley Rotary Club has teamed up with Chef Dominick Scalise and Good Nature Farm Brewery to offer a five-course food and craft beer tasting. The multi-faceted event will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Elks Lodge, 124 Mary St., Herkimer.

Scalise has designed a five-course gourmet meal that will bring out the flavors of each beer. The impressive menu includes chilled poached shrimp over romaine, zucchini, summer squash, carrot, pepitas with a herb lemon vinaigrette, sweet and spicy Thai chili boneless wings, grilled pork loin served with roasted red potatoes and a leek cream sauce, braised pot roast served with root vegetables and a rosemary demi-glace.

Finally, a chocolate cake layered with Irish cream frosting and topped with coffee ice cream, toasted almonds and a homemade pirouline cookie will be served.

Each course will include a craft beer sample.

Tickets for dinner are $35 per person or $60 per couple, and attendees must be 21 and over to attend.

“Proceeds to this event benefit our community by allowing our club to continue with many service projects such as scholarship awards for senior students in Herkimer, CVA and Frankfort Schools, Books For the World program, Holiday Food Drive benefiting the Salvation Army of Herkimer and Catholic Charities in Ilion and our Youth Exchange Program,” said Club President Elyse Enea Bellows.

Tickets can be purchased online at facebook.com/MohawkValleyRotaryDistrict7150 or at the Herkimer Elk’s Lodge, 124 Mary St., Herkimer. For more information, contact Bellows at eneaelyse@gmail.
