United Way to Host .5k Run

WHAT: United Way .5k. Not your average run. Not your average cause.

DETAILS: United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area is hosting its first ever .5k (half-kilometer) running event, “United Way .5k”. The official tagline is “Not your average run. Not your average cause.”
The event is a fun way for community members to support local funded programs that benefit 1 in 4 individuals in Oneida and Herkimer counties. Registration sign-in and run starting line begins in the back parking lot of the Saranac Brewery. The course follows Washer St, Edward St and part of Varick St, ending at the Celtic Harp.
Cost is $20 per participant and includes entertainment, supporting local programs, commemorative sticker, free admission to after-party at Celtic Harp and one Saranac beverage. Guests not participating in the run will be able to enter the after-party with a minimum contribution of $5 at the door. 100% of entry fees will be donated to United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area.
This event is for those 21 years of age and older, and will take place rain or shine. Online registration is currently taking place on United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area’s website and will close at noon on Friday, October 12th. There will be day-of registration taking place in the back parking lot of the Saranac Brewery.
Registration sign-in will take place at 9am on the day of the event in the back parking lot of Saranac Brewery. The run will begin at 10am. The after-party will go until 1pm at the Celtic Harp. Sponsors for this even are Robert Half of Syracuse, Saranac Brewery, Function Better Physical Therapy, Assured Information Security, Chobani, Copper City Hospitality & Entertainment, Nutrishop of New Hartford, Ward Arcuri Law Firm and T.C. Peter’s Printing, who’s employees used their own personal time to produce the commemorative sticker. The coffee and donut station, which will be on the course itself, is sponsored by Dippin Donuts.
