Rome woman arrested on animal cruelty charges
On Oct. 6, 2018, state police in Lafayette arrested Dana M Studer, 54, of Carmel Drive, Rome, for Agriculture and Markets law section 353, Animal Cruelty (class A misdemeanor) after troopers were alerted of a dog locked inside of a vehicle at the Lafayette Apple Festival parking lot.
Investigation revealed the dog had been locked inside of a vehicle for nearly two hours. Several attempts were made to contact the owner over a public address system without success; troopers then broke the car window and removed the canine from the vehicle in good health.
Studer was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Lafayette Town Court Oct. 17, 2018.
