Tenney receives Friend of Farm Bureau Award

Recognized as advocate for family farmers

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) received “Friend of the Farm Bureau” award for her work in the 115th Congress. The American Farm Bureau Federation gives the Friend of Farm Bureau award to members of Congress who have supported Farm Bureau’s position on policy issues, as demonstrated by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus and approved by the AFBF Board of Directors.

“Farms are the lifeblood of our local economy and a vital part of our upstate heritage,” Tenney said. “In New York, our dairy farmers have experienced severe hardships. Unfair trade deals and bad policies in Albany has pushed our farmers to the brink of bankruptcy. Since my first day as a member of Congress, it’s been my top priority to fix this serious problem jeopardizing the survival of the great tradition of family farming.

“I’ve fought and helped enact real solutions to ensure our agricultural community can grow and prosper once again. I’ve listened to the problems facing our farmers and been their voice in Washington, fighting for real change and delivering on our promises. It is a distinct honor to be recognized by the Farm Bureau for our office’s work and strong advocacy for upstate farmers in Congress.”

Tenney has held roundtables with local farmers in five counties through the district and brought the United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to NY-22 to listen to the needs of local farmers.
