Two arrested on drug charges following a vehicle and traffic stop in Syracuse
On Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on Onondaga Avenue in the city of Syracuse. Investigation revealed the front seat passenger, identified as Christie L. Menkins, 43, of Phoenix, was in possession of crack cocaine.
She was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (class A misdemeanor) and released on an appearance ticket.
A back seat passenger, identified as Leroy T. Giles, 27, of Syracuse, was found to be in possession of marijuana. During the investigation, Giles revealed that he also had multiple baggies of cocaine secreted on his person.
Giles was arrested and processed for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (class B felony), tampering with physical evidence (class E felony), and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (class A misdemeanor). He was remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.
