Tom Henry talks about Americans “Over There” in World War I

In a World War I Centenary program at Oneida Public Library, historian and lecturer Tom Henry on Saturday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. presents “Over There: America on the Western Front,” a show and tell about the American Expeditionary Forces’ role on the Western Front in the last year of World War I.

Henry will also discuss President Woodrow Wilson’s guide to peace, “The Fourteen Points,” and the political and diplomatic turmoil that followed the Armistice of November 11, 1918, leading up to the Versailles Peace Conference of 1919.

Henry, a retired social studies teacher at Liverpool High School, lectures extensively in the Greater Syracuse area on American constitutional, military, political and presidential history, particularly at the Oasis Institute of Syracuse. He spoke most recently at the OPL last November on the military history of World War I and U.S. entry in it.

Previously at the OPL, Henry has lectured on women’s suffrage and the 19th Amendment, contested presidential elections, “forgotten” presidents, the U.S. at the outbreak of World War II, the Battle of Gettysburg and the Union’s prisoner of war camp in Elmira.

Henry’s program “Over There” is free and open to the public. For more information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call (315) 363-3050.
