SUNY Morrisville Ag Summit Nov. 15

Learn from presenters, innovators and leaders about future goals and needs in the agricultural industry during an Ag Summit at SUNY Morrisville, Thursday, Nov. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The summit is an opportunity to bring together people from the agricultural industry and educators to share ideas that are advancing agriculture and to form new collaborations that will help us all serve this exciting industry,” said Christopher Nyberg, SUNY Morrisville Dean of the School of Agriculture & Natural Resources.

The on-campus event includes panel discussions which focus on the needs in agricultural education and workforce development with both an academic and industry focus. Students will also highlight their successes in the industry.

During the summit, keynote speaker Zaid Kurdieh, owner of Norwich Meadows Farm LLC, a certified organic farm in Norwich, will discuss his business, and Richard Ball, commissioner of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, will present “Setting the Stage.”

Tours of the college’s facilities, which offer experiential learning opportunities in diverse settings, will be provided.

Participants can hear more about the college’s academic offerings, as well as plans for growth and new degrees, including the college’s first Master of Science degree in agribusiness. Development of the new program was funded by SUNY through a performance improvement fund grant targeting high needs in agriculture.
