Two Mattydale men arrested for criminal possession of a weapon following domestic incident

On Nov. 9, 2018, at approximately 9:15 p.m., state police in North Syracuse responded to a shots-fired complaint at 107 Endres Drive, Apt. No. 7, Mattydale.

Upon arrival, troopers determined two males were involved in a physical dispute when one male fired one round from a 9mm handgun. The projectile from the handgun traveled through the floor and came to rest next to a 14-year-old child in a first-floor apartment.

Steven A. Shelley, 28, of 107 Endres Dr. Apt. No. 7, Mattydale, was arrested for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (C felony) and first-degree reckless endangerment (D felony).

Keith A. Hartle, 27, from 107 Endres Drive Apt. No. 7, Mattydale, was arrested for fourth-egree criminal possession of a weapon (A misdemeanor) for possession of a metal knuckle knife and a collapsible baton.

The investigation revealed the physical dispute began between both men who lived at that residence. During the altercation in the hallway, Shelley fired a 9mm handgun toward the floor.

Shelley was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment; Hartle was released on an appearance ticket.
