In other library news…

As American comedian, musician, actor, television and radio host Henry Rollins once said, “The month of November makes me feel that life is passing more quickly. In an effort to slow it down, I try to fill the hours more meaningfully.”

There are still lots of things to do at the Canastota Public Library this month.

Our children’s story hours continue through the month. Baby & Me Lapsit with Miss Angela is an introduction to the library for children from birth to age 24 months. Baby & Me Lapsit is scheduled through Dec. 19. The program is for babies and their caregivers and is held each Wednesday at 10 a.m.

On Thursdays, preschoolers enjoy Storytime with Mrs. Liz at 10 a.m. In this program, children will enjoy read-aloud stories, songs, crafts and a snack. Storytime will be held through Dec. 20.

The Kids Holiday Shop is coming back to Canastota Public Library this November. This program, for youth ages 5 to 12, allows kids to earn points for reading their favorite books. Once a book is read, the child completes a book report form and earns points for each report. Those points are then used at our Holiday Gift shop to buy gifts for family and friends. The program began Nov. 1 with sign-ups. Completed book report forms will be received beginning in early December. Happy reading!

November also includes our regularly scheduled programs like our writers groups, bone builders, movies, party bridge and free classes for the high school equivalency exam. Contact the library for more information on our regular programs.

The library will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, for Thanksgiving. The Canastota Public Library is located at 102 W. Center St., Canastota, and has been providing services to the community since 1896.
