Remsen Woman charged with DWI after crashing into House
On November 18, 2018, at 10:30 pm, Troopers responded to 9621 Main Street in the village of Remsen for a reported vehicle that struck a building.
The investigation revealed a 2012 Suzuki SX4 was traveling westbound on Prospect Street in the village of Remsen at an unsafe speed. The driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Main Street. The vehicle subsequently traveled across the north and southbound lanes of Main Street struck a snow embankment and traveled across a snow-covered yard before striking a wooden porch structure attached to 9621 Main Street.
The driver, Laura D. Mortagua, age 56, from 10943 Commons Road Remsen, NY was charged with DWI (BAC .12%), Speeding, Unsafe Tires, Failed to Stop for Stop Sign, Moved from Lane Unsafely and Unregistered Motor Vehicle. She was issued appearance tickets returnable to Remsen Town Court for December 5, 2018, at 6 pm.
