Madison County Farm Bureau was presented with four County Activity of Excellence awards at the New York Farm Bureau state annual meeting Dec. 4 and 5 in Syracuse.
The County Activity of Excellence awards are presented to county Farm Bureaus that have exhibited excellence in a variety of categories relating to effectiveness in agriculture promotion and outreach, leadership and county Farm Bureau management, legislative advocacy and membership.
The awards were presented for excellence in the following categories:
- Membership
- Agriculture Promotion & Outreach
- Leadership & County Farm Bureau Management
- Legislative Advocacy
During the annual meeting, Madison County Farm Bureau members Bret and Johanna Bossard were presented with the James Quinn Award for their volunteer efforts. The couple offer tours of their farm, Barbland Dairy, and have been engaged at the local, state and national levels as strong communicators for farmers. Plus, they are active on multiple boards and promotion efforts to improve the economic conditions for farmers. The James Quinn Award is given to Farm Bureau members for their extraordinary efforts during the course of a given year “to serve and strengthen agriculture.”
In addition, Madison County Farm Bureau President Darrell Griff was presented with a Distinguished President Award during the event.
While at the meeting, farmer members also took part in the grassroots process of laying the groundwork for the year ahead. More than 150 delegates from across New York proposed, discussed and voted on resolutions that will guide NYFB’s public policy agenda for 2019.
Madison County Farm Bureau is dedicated to solving the economic and public policy issues challenging the agricultural community.
