The Central New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team of Cornell Cooperative Extension will be offering a workshop “Understanding EPDs for Beef Cattle” from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, Cornell Cooperative Extension Saratoga County, 50 West High St, Ballston Spa.

This is a free workshop; however, registration is required by Jan. 24. Register at cnydfc.cce.cornell.edu/, email herkimer@cornell.edu or call 315.866.7920. Space is limited, so register early to save your spot.

Expected progeny differences are a great tool in your toolbox when it comes to selecting genetics for your herd. EPDs allow the breeder to have a good idea of what the genetic makeup will likely be for those animals and that will then be transferred to their offspring.

Jerry Emerich from Select Sire Power and Ashley McFarland, CNYDLFC livestock specialist will discuss EPDs and how you can use that information to better your herd.

For more information, call 315.866.7920.
