The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees invites adult residents of the OPL Special Legislature Library District who are interested in running as candidates for the board seat opening up this July 1 to pick up voter petition forms this month at the library, 220 Broad St., Oneida.

To get on the ballot for the trustee election, which will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019, each candidate must collect a minimum of 25 signatures of registered voters who reside in the OPL Special Library District. The Special District is coextensive with the Oneida City School District. It includes Durhamville, Oneida City, Oneida Castle, Wampsville and portions of Sylvan Beach and the towns of Lenox, Lincoln, Vernon, Verona and Vienna.

Completed and notarized petitions must be returned to the library by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1.

A duly elected member of the OPL Board of Trustees serves a five-year term without reimbursement. The winner of the March 5 election will serve on the board from July 1, 2019 until June 30, 2024, in line with the library’s fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30.

The OPL board currently consists of G. Richard Kinsella, Jr. (president), Lillian White (vice-president), Bradford Adams (treasurer), Patricia Albaugh (secretary), Heather de la Riva, Gary N. Taylor and Katherine Wojciechowski.

Also available at the library desk are absentee ballot applications for registered voters residing in the Library District who are physically disabled or expect to be absent from the district the day of the library vote. The same applications can be downloaded and printed out from the OPL web site (www.midyorklib.org/oneida). Filled-out applications need to be returned to the library by mail or in person, and the actual absentee ballots will be mailed after February 12.

For more information, contact the OPL Board Secretary, Patricia Albaugh, at 315-761-9701, or the Oneida Library at 315-363-3050.
