State police investigate stabbing incident in town of Western
On Jan. 24, 2019, at approximately 2:15 p.m., state police responded to 7893 Gifford Hill Road in the town of Western for a reported stabbing.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered the victim, 31-year-old Alan Rizzuto, Jr., was allegedly stabbed by his brother, 25-year-old Aarin A. Rizzuto, during a physical altercation inside the residence.
The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica where he underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.
Aarin A. Rizzuto was charged with first-degree assault, a class B felony; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor.
He was transported to the Oneida County Jail pending Centralized Arraignment.
Watertown man arrested for violating an order of protection
State police arrested Andrew S. Converse, 36, of Watertown, for first-degree criminal contempt, a class E felony and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Converse is charged with violating a court order of protection after a physical altercation with the female victim outside a residence on Porter Road in the town of LeRay. He was arraigned in the town of LeRay Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
Converse is scheduled to return to LeRay Town Court Jan. 30, 2019, at 1:30 p.m.
Troopers investigate Amish buggy crash in Herkimer County
On Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at 8:35 p.m., state police in Herkimer responded to a truck v. Amish buggy personal injury accident on Honey Hill Road in the town of Newport.
Investigation at the scene reveals that an Amish horse-drawn buggy was being operated by Samuel Miller, 14, who was pulling out of a private residence located at 392 Honey Hill Road and into the direct path of a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck with a snowplow operated by Jeffrey S. Yaworski, 28, from Newport.
After the collision, the horse dragged the buggy west, eventually breaking free, and the buggy came to rest off the northern shoulder of the roadway. Miller was transported by Kuyahorra Ambulance to St Elizabeth’s Emergency Department and then to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse for skull and facial fractures; he was listed in stable condition.
Yaworski was not injured in the crash.
Troopers investigate head-on crash in Oswego County
State police are investigating a two-vehicle head-on crash that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Jan. 27 on County Route 10 in the town of Schroeppel.
The investigation has revealed a 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by D.J. Shattell, 28, of Baldwinsville, was southbound on County Route 10 when he crossed into the northbound lane, striking a 2003 Nissan Altima head-on.
The driver of the Nissan, Nathanael J. Mountain, 27, from Liverpool, and two passengers (ages 7 and 26) were all transported to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shattell was transported to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
