The Peterboro United Methodist Church is having a special service of worship in observance of Black History Month at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, in the sanctuary at 5240 Pleasant Valley Road, Peterboro. Rev. Christiane Depestre invites all to attend this significant event.

The guest speaker will be Norman K. Dann, Ph.D., who will be accompanied by his wife Dorothy Willsey. Dann is a founder and member of the Cabinet of Freedom for the National Abolition hall of Fame and Museum, head docent of the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark, a 25-year member of the annual Peterboro Civil War Weekend Committee, and treasurer of the Peterboro Area Museum.

Willsey is a member of the community who has been involved in the founding and development of the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark and the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum in Peterboro. She is also one of the three founders of the newly incorporated Underground Railroad Consortium of New York State.
