Suffolk County man charged in Eaton burglary

State police announces Feb. 1, 2019, the arrest of Clifford R. Williams, 56, of Selden, for second-degree burglary, a class C felony.

Williams is accused of unlawfully entering a relative’s residence in Eaton through a window and taking several antique items from within the home.

Williams was arraigned and remanded to Madison County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Eaton Town Court Feb. 5, 2019, at 2:30 p.m.

Ogdensburg man charged with multiple felonies, including threatening trooper with knife

On Jan.  24, 2019, state police in Watertown arrested Michael J. Larock, 31, from Ogdensburg, on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny (E felony), resisting arrest (A misdemeanor) and menacing a police officer (D felony).

Larock is alleged to have stolen two generators from Gander Outdoors in the Salmon Run Mall, town of Watertown.

Prior to being placed into custody, Larock threatened the trooper with a folding knife and refused to comply with a lawful order.

A taser was deployed, and Larock was taken into custody without further incident.

He was arraigned in Pamelia Town Court and remanded to the Jefferson County public safety building in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

Fort Drum man arrested for stealing coffee maker from Wal-Mart

On Jan. 28, 2019, state police in Watertown arrested Cameron M. Mays, 19, an active-duty soldier from Fort Drum, for fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree falsifying business records and petit larceny, all class A misdemeanors.

Cameron is alleged to have stolen and fraudulently returned a coffee maker from Wal-Mart in the town of LeRay. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to LeRay Town Court and turned over to military authorities.

Troopers respond to nearly 1,100 crashes during winter storm

State troopers responded to nearly 1,100 motor vehicle crashes and issued more than 600 travel ban tickets during the snowstorm that affected much of the state last week.

State police increased patrols in the regions that were highly impacted to handle storm-related incidents.

Troopers responded to 1,096 crashes during the storm; 81 of those crashes resulted in injuries, including three fatalities. In addition, troopers responded to 1,528 disabled or abandoned vehicles.

State police also issued 601 tickets to drivers of commercial vehicles who violated the travel ban.
