File photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Madison County residents are invited to attend a free\nDocument Shredding and Textile Collection event on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from\n9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buyea Road Residential Station, located at 6666 Buyea\nRoad in Canastota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents can bring up to four filing boxes of personal and\nconfidential documents to be shredded and recycled. Medical documents, bank\ninformation, tax records, and other paperwork containing account numbers or\nprivate details are ideal for drop off. Business waste will not be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents are also encouraged to drop off clothing, footwear\nand blankets as part of their textile collection event. Accepted items include\nshirts, pants, handbags, backpacks, sneakers, boots, blankets and towels.\nTextiles must be clean, dry and placed in a plastic bag. Please do not bring\nclothes on hangers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the state Department of Environmental\nConservation, New York state residents throw away almost 1.4 billion pounds of\ntextiles annually.
