The bill, which passed the Assembly Transportation Committee today,\nis the first step on the road to giving illegals driver\u2019s licenses and granting\nthem the privileges of law-abiding citizens. Salka is concerned about breaking\nfederal law along with the implications of granting an official government\ndocument to an undocumented immigrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">61% of New Yorkers oppose giving illegals driver\u2019s licenses,\nand Salka believes the Assembly Democrats are abdicating the duty of the\noverwhelming majority of New Yorkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m really concerned with the nature of this vote,\u201d Salka\nsaid. \u201cInstead of paving a path to grant these undocumented immigrants\ncitizenship, we\u2019re bypassing that route entirely and giving them the privileges\nof a law-abiding citizen.
