Cerio has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019\nVincent V. Albanese Alumni Achievement Award for outstanding and valuable\ncontributions to her profession and to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marian, daughter of Donald (Biff) and Madlyn Cerio, is a\n1972 graduate of Canastota Central Schools and graduated from SUNY Potsdam in\n1976 with a BA in political science and history. She earned her juris doctor degree\nfrom Syracuse University College of Law in 1979.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marian initially worked for Northwestern Legal Services for\na year. In 1982 she opened the Law Office of Marian J. Cerio, PC, where she\ncontinues to offer her professional services. In conjunction with her\nprofession, she is a member of the Madison County, Oneida County and the NYS\nBar Associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marian acts as an attorney for the Child Panel in Madison\nand Oneida counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lifetime resident of Canastota, Marian has been active in\nher church, with the CCS District and in other areas of the community. She is a\nmember of St. Agatha\u2019s Parish Council, served as a lector for the past 14 years\nand as church trustee since 2018. A member of the Canastota Central School Board\nof Education for eight years, she held the office of president 2014-15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marion also serves on the Canastota Alumni Association\u2019s\nBoard of Directors and has recently joined the Italian American Heritage\nCommittee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marian resides in the village with her husband Vic, a\nretired lawyer. Daughter Maria lives in Syracuse and holds a position of\nInternational Enrollment Manager at SUNY Oswego. Their son Joe resides in\nRochester, where he is a math teacher at Newark Central Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Marion can manage leisure time, she spends it reading. She\nand husband Vic enjoy traveling and have especially enjoyed numerous trips to\nItaly, where they visit friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award will be presented at the 138th Canastota Alumni\nBanquet to be held at Theodore\u2019s Restaurant (formerly The Rusty Rail) in\nCanastota June 29. Social hour is at 6 p.m., with dinner following at 7 p.m. Tickets\nare $30 per person.
