22 state AGs warn action is necessary to prevent against \u201cpersistent threats to our election systems\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Attorney General Letitia James and 21 other State Attorneys\nGeneral from across the nation today called on Congress to take action to protect\nthe integrity of America\u2019s elections from \u201cpersistent threats\u201d by Russia and other\nbad actors by asking for grants, updated security standards, and bipartisan election-security\nlegislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe electoral process is the foundation of our democracy and\nmust be protected,\u201d said Attorney General\nLetitia James. \u201cThere is no doubt that Russia and other adversaries will\nattempt to infiltrate our elections and instill uncertainty in the hearts and minds\nof American voters, so we must work to prevent any security breaches and safeguard\nthe sanctity of our elections in 2020 and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the letter to the chairs and ranking members of both the Senate\nAppropriations and Senate Rules Committees, the 22 Attorneys General ask Congress\nto:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
