The Arc of Madison Cortland, a not-for-profit organization\nsupporting people with disabilities in Madison and Cortland counties, has been\nawarded a grant from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to\nsupport the organizations recreation programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts that\ncan make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities while\nenabling individuals to maintain eligibility for public benefits programs, such\nas Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income. For 2019, Trust Services will fulfill\nits commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a\ntotal of $2,933,000 in grants to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This summer, Trust Services has awarded The Arc of Madison\nCortland a grant for improving recreational opportunities for the people they\nserve. The program has already gone on several group trips this year and hosted\na number of guests and special events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have enjoyed many trips that the NYSARC grant has\nfunded,\u201d said Erica Ostwald from The Arc of Madison Cortland. \u201cI went to the\nSterling Renaissance Fair last year with five other individuals. We saw a\njousting match, a few comedy plays and the people who ran the shows all dressed\nup in the era and talked like they did back then too, it was a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
