OPL\u2019s Youth Services Coordinator Megan\nGillander invites preschoolers and their parents or guardians to a program of\nstories, songs and games for summertime fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 6: OPL\u2019s Summer Space Camp, Tuesday, 12-2 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesdays in Aug. from 12 to 2 p.m. (Aug. 6-27), OPL\u2019s\nMegan Gillander will conduct the Summer Reading Program\u2019s Space Camp in which\nchildren 5 to 13 years old will be involved in books, crafts, puzzles and team\nprojects that reflect a \u201cuniverse of stories.\u201d Parents need to sign-up their\nchildren for Space Camp at the OPL Circulation Desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 6: Yoga for Seniors, Tuesday at 2 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certified Hathi Yoga instructor Bill Skinner\nreturns for a new season of weekly Yoga for Seniors, using safe, healthful and\nrelaxing exercises. The program is free, but pre-registration is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 7: The Nature Journal: Art Workshop in Pencil and Watercolors, Wednesday\nat the Great Swamp Conservancy, 9:30-11:30 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oneida Public Library has engaged artist and teacher Carol\nCotten to hold a free art workshop in pencil and watercolors called The Nature\nJournal out of doors at the Great Swamp Conservancy in Canastota in four weekly\nsessions on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Aug. 7-28. In case of rain, the\nclass will meet indoors at the Conservancy\u2019s Center. Interested adults must register at the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St.,\nfor the class. Registered students will receive directions and a list of\nrecommended art supplies and accessories for outdoor painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 7: Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre performs \u201cLook Up: Tales of the\nSky,\u201d Wednesday at 5 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nMerry-Go-Round Youth Theatre comes to Oneida Public Library to give a free\nperformance of \u201cLook Up: Tales of the\nSky,\u201d a new play by Stephanie Figer. The \nrollicking three-part comedy asks such perennial questions as where did\nthe sun and moon come from? When you wish upon a star, does someone hear you? Sponsored\nby the Friends of the Oneida Public Library, the performance is free and open\nto the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oneida Public Library\u2019s Megan Gillander will\nbe at the OPL table at the special Street Art Show Night of OC3\u2019s weekly market\nat Higinbotham Park, providing for free the makings of sidewalk art-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All family members can learn the basics, helpful\nwords and phrases of American Sign Language. Megan Gillander, a sign-language\nadept, will lead the class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 23: Usborne Books and More Fair, Friday, 12-5 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of the Oneida Public Library are\nsponsoring a book fair featuring the \nwide-range of children\u2019s and young adult books published by Usborne. The\nfair will help supplement the Oneida Public Library\u2019s book budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 23: Jeff the Magic Man, Friday at 1 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeff the Magic Man returns to Oneida Public\nLibrary to perform his wizardry with balloons and his space-defying magic\ntricks. His show is free and appropriate for children of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aug. 28: OPL Board Meeting, Wednesday at 9 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees\nwill hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at 9 a.m. in\nthe library\u2019s Local History Room, 220 Broad St., Oneida. The public is invited\nto attend. The History Room permits barrier-free access to the physically\nhandicapped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
