The statewide STOP-DWI crackdown runs Aug. 14 through Sept. 2, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce\nimpaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.&nbsp; Sobriety checkpoints play a key part in\nraising awareness about the problem.&nbsp; State\npolice, county sheriffs and municipal law enforcement agencies across the state\nwill be out in force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While STOP-DWI efforts across New York have led to significant\nreductions in the numbers of alcohol- and drug-related fatalities, still too\nmany lives are being lost because of crashes caused by drunk or impaired\ndrivers. Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the STOP-DWI Crackdown\nCampaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a sober plan. Impaired driving is preventable through planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The STOP-DWI Labor Day Weekend Crackdown is one of many\nstatewide enforcement initiatives promoted by the New York State STOP-DWI\nAssociation with additional funding from the STOP-DWI Foundation and the\nGovernor\u2019s Traffic Safety Committee.
