Anthony Brindisi<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As many rural communities struggle with affordable housing,\nBrindisi backs law to protect affordable options<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congressman Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) supported legislation\nto maintain and protect affordable housing across rural communities. Brindisi\nsupported the Strategy and Investment in Rural Housing Preservation Act of\n2019. This legislation permanently establishes the USDA Multifamily Housing\nPreservation and Revitalization Program to help maintain affordable housing\nstock in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI hear from working families and members of the agriculture\ncommunity that housing options across rural New York are unaffordable,\u201d\nBrindisi said. \u201cWashington needs to do a better job working for rural\ncommunities, and this bill will help our ag workers and hardworking families\naccess affordable housing in the communities where they work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The legislation authorizes $200 million per year for five\nyears to run the program. This bill also authorizes $50 million for improved\ndepartment technology to process loans and manage properties.&nbsp; The bill would:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorize $1 billion over the 2020-24 period for assistance\nto owners of housing for farm workers and rural renters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorize $50 million in 2020 for loan processing\ntechnology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expand eligibility for rental assistance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Establish an advisory committee to USDA on preserving farm\nlabor and rental housing in rural areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As many rural communities struggle with affordable housing, Brindisi backs law to protect affordable options Congressman Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) supported legislation to maintain and protect affordable housing across rural communities.
