Pomeroy Foundation opens new grant round for NYS Marker Program<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The William G. Pomeroy\nFoundation will officially open the next grant round of its New York State\nHistoric Marker Grant Program beginning Monday, Nov. 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program\ncommemorates historic people, places, things or events in New York State within\nthe time frame of 1740-1920. Grants cover the entire cost of a marker, pole and\nshipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This grant round is\navailable to the following counties: Fulton, Montgomery, Herkimer, Oneida,\nOtsego and Schoharie (Region 7); Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego (Region 8);\nCayuga, Cortland, Madison and Onondaga (Region 9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NYS Historic\nMarker Grant Program is open to local, state and federal government entities,\nnonprofit academic institutions and 501(c)(3) organizations in New York State.\nOften, municipal historians or local historical organizations (or related\nnonprofits) will apply for a marker on behalf of a property owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those interested in\napplying for a marker grant should submit an online Letter of Intent to verify\nprimary sources by Monday, Dec. 16, 2019. Primary source documentation is\nnecessary to support the text on a marker. The final application deadline is\nMonday, Jan. 20, 2020. To apply for a grant or review application guidelines,\nvisit the Foundation\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wgpfoundation.org\/history\/nys-historic-markers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NYS\nmarker program page<\/a>. A complete grant\nschedule by region is also on the Foundation\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional marker\ngrant programs include the Legends &amp; Lore\u00ae Marker Grant Program, Historic\nTransportation Canals Marker Grant Program, National Register Signage Grant\nProgram and National Women\u2019s Suffrage Marker Program. The Foundation\u2019s website\nalso features an interactive,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wgpfoundation.org\/history\/map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital map<\/a>&nbsp;that can be filtered across\nseveral categories to view current markers and plaques.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William G.
