Fritz’s Polka Band from Verona, along with special guests,\nRocko Dorsey and Rick Szczyt will be returning to Cleveland, Ohio, for the\nThanksgiving Polka Weekend, Nov. 29 and 30, 2019.  This event will be held at the Cleveland Marriott\nat Key Center, 127 Public Square. FPB is scheduled to perform at 5 p.m. Nov. 29\nand at 7 p.m. Nov. 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the FPB will be guest presenters in the Sideman\nof the Year category during the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame Awards Show\nat the Marriott during the afternoon of Nov. 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As the two remaining founding members of FPB, my\nbrother-in-law Gabe Vaccaro and I are anxious to return to Cleveland for this\nevent, along with Rocko Dorsey and Rick Szczyt, and perform twice as part of\nthe Thanksgiving Polka Weekend and then present some awards during the Awards\nShow,” said Fritz Scherz, bandleader of Fritz\u2019s Polka Band. “With my\nband being nominated in the \u2018Band of the Year\u2019 category, and FPB original tune,\nFred\u2019s Polka, which is the last song written by my dad, the late Fred Scherz,\nSr., being nominated in the \u2018New, Original Song\u2019 category, as well as my being nominated\nin the \u2018Musician of the Year\u2019 and \u2018Button-Box: Artist or Duo\u2019 categories, this\nweekend is really going to be very exciting. As with the last two years we\nplayed at this event, Rocko will once again be a special guest guitarist. He\u2019s\nquite the talent, too, as he has been featured before on the Gretsch Guitars\u2019\nwebsite. As an extra treat this year, Rick Szczyt, who drummed in FPB for 24\nyears will be performing this weekend with us. Rick is an amazing talent, too,\nas he has been nominated before for multiple national awards. We\u2019ve got some\nsurprises planned, too, for the friends going with us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oct. 14, 2018, marked the 40th anniversary of Fritz’s Polka\nBand; FPB made history in 1999 by becoming the first polka band to play at a\nWoodstock Festival.  FPB appears on\n“The Manchurian Candidate” DVD, released in 2004.  In 2011, FPB had two songs (\u2018Grandparent\u2019s\nPolka\u2019 and \u2018Here Is Fritz\u2019s Polka Band\u2019) included in two episodes of the TV\nshow \u201cBreaking Bad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In November 2018, FPB released their 19th recording, \u201cHey!\u201d\nwhich featured Dorsey, Ron Keck and Todd Kerns (from Slash featuring Myles Kennedy\n& The Conspirators, TOQUE, Age of Electric and more) as special guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
