All New Yorkers need access to quality, affordable health\ncare, no matter their zip code<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congressman Anthony Brindisi celebrated Rural Health Day by calling\non lawmakers in Washington to act and bridge the gap between rural and urban health\ncare. Brindisi is leading the charge in Congress to increase access to affordable\nhealth care in rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhether it\u2019s long travel times, lack of adequate resources,\nor stigma about reaching out for help, too often, our rural communities are left\nbehind by a broken system that puts politics over solutions,\u201d Brindisi said. \u201cAll\nNew Yorkers need access to quality, affordable health care, no matter their zip\ncode.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brindisi has proposed numerous solutions to bring down the cost\nof care, increase access to mental health care, and support rural medical facilities.\nHis efforts on behalf of rural communities were praised by local advocates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom day one, Congressman Brindisi hit the ground running in\nhis effort to preserve access to care in rural areas,\u201d said Healthcare Association\nof New York State President Bea Grause, RN, JD. \u201cWe applaud the Congressman for\nhis steadfast commitment to bolstering New York\u2019s rural hospitals. These hospitals\nplay a critical role in maintaining healthcare services in their communities, despite\noperating under significant negative Medicare and Medicaid margins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe look forward to continuing our partnership with Congressman\nBrindisi to advance policies that protect hospitals and health systems and the patients\nthey serve across New York state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn rural areas it is critical to find a way to make sure adequate\nMental Health services are available,\u201d said Sandra Soroka with Utica\u2019s Neighborhood\nCenter. \u201cFarmers and families living in these areas have a history of being self-sufficient\nand with that often comes a legacy of we don\u2019t discuss our problems, we handle them;\nhowever, obtaining help is not a weakness, everyone at various times in their lives\nneed help. We are so grateful Anthony Brindisi is taking on the task of improving\nMental Health Services for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
