Producers previously deemed ineligible for MFP in 2018\nbecause they had an average AGI level higher than $900,000 may now be eligible\nfor 2018 MFP benefits<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USDA reminds producers in New York that the nationwide\ndeadline to sign up for the Market Facilitation Program is Dec. 6, 2019. MFP\npayments are aimed at assisting farmers suffering from damage due to\nunjustified trade retaliation by foreign nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFarmers have had a tough year due to unfair trade\nretaliation and natural disasters, but the Market Facilitation Program offers\nsome much-needed relief,\u201d said Clark Putman, state executive director in New\nYork. \u201cI encourage farmers not to miss the deadline to submit an application.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since signup for MFP began July 29, producers in New York\nhave received more than $44,559,080. Across the country, more than $10.1\nbillion has been paid for 2019 MFP crop and livestock commodities to nearly\n601,000 applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, USDA began making payments on the second tranche\nof 2019 MFP payments. Producers of MFP-eligible commodities are now eligible to\nreceive 75 percent of the total potential payment. If conditions warrant,\nproducers may receive the final tranche in January 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, due to changes to the 2018 MFP program that\nwere required by the 2019 Disaster Bill, producers previously deemed ineligible\nfor MFP in 2018 because they had an average AGI level higher than $900,000 may\nnow be eligible for 2018 MFP benefits. Those producers must be able to verify\n75 percent or more of their average AGI was derived from farming and ranching\nto qualify. The deadline for this signup also is Dec. 6, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Producers who have yet to sign up for MFP should contact\ntheir local FSA office. Information on eligibility requirements and the\napplication can also be found on www.farmers.gov\/MFP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
