Madison County to participate in statewide STOP-DWI holiday enforcement\neffort<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Madison County STOP-DWI Coordinator Matthew White announced\ntoday that Madison County police agencies will participate in a special\nenforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we spend this Holiday Season celebrating with friends\nand family and looking forward to the blessings of a New Year the law\nenforcement community across New York State will take to the roads in an effort\nto stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives. The statewide\nSTOP-DWI Crackdown efforts start Dec. 11, 2019, and will end Jan. 1, 2020.\nState police, county sheriff and municipal law enforcement agencies across the\nstate will be out in force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce\nimpaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. Sobriety checkpoints play\na key part in raising awareness about the problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While STOP-DWI efforts across New York have led to\nsignificant reductions in the numbers of alcohol and drug related fatalities,\nstill too many lives are being lost because of crashes caused by drunk or\nimpaired drivers. Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the STOP-DWI\nCrackdown Campaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired\ndriving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The STOP-DWI Holiday Crackdown is one of many statewide\nenforcement initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor\u2019s Traffic\nSafety Committee. The Statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown Campaign also targets the\n4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Super Bowl\nweekend and St. Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
