Most of these parties have been determined to be campus\nstudents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the course of the fight, one male, Abdi H. Osman, 21,\nof Utica, allegedly brandished a knife and attempted to stab members of the\nother group. While attempting to do this, he suffered a laceration to his hand\nand stabbed a member of his own group, causing that individual to be\ntransported to St. Elizabeth&#8217; s Hospital for emergency treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While on scene, Osman was quickly taken into custody, and taken\nto the hospital for treatment of his wound. After discharge, he was charged by\nthe Utica Police Criminal Investigations Division with second-degree assault\n(felony) and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (misdemeanor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We would like to thank MVCC Campus Security and their\nofficers as well as the MVCC Administration staff for all their help during\nthis investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are committed to providing a safe and secure environment\non our campuses and are proud of how our students, faculty and staff followed\nshelter-in-place procedures and handled themselves during the situation,\u201d said MVCC\nPresident Randall J. VanWagoner. \u201cWe are also thankful to the Utica Police Department\nand MVCC Public Safety for their actions and exceptional service to the Mohawk\nValley community. The male then struck her with the\nvehicle, causing her to be pinned between her vehicle and his.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The male then exited his vehicle, approached her and began\nto make threatening statements and ultimately left the scene. Following that,\nshe contacted 911.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victim was then transported to St. Elizabeth\u2019s Hospital\nand later transferred to another higher-level trauma center with serious lower\nbody injuries. She is currently stable, but her injuries were quite severe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are asking the public\u2019s help in locating the suspect,\nLeslie Paulson, 55, of Frankfort; he was last known to be operating a gold\nToyota Avalon, license plate GTG4776.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should be noted that while this occurred on the MVCC\ncampus, it is wholly separate and distinct from yesterday\u2019s incident, and none\nof the involved parties had any affiliation with the college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"238\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Dinasia-Murray.jpg?resize=238%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-110149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Dinasia-Murray.jpg?resize=238%2C300&amp;ssl=1 238w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Dinasia-Murray.jpg?resize=713%2C900&amp;ssl=1 713w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Dinasia-Murray.jpg?resize=119%2C150&amp;ssl=1 119w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Dinasia-Murray.jpg?resize=400%2C505&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/madisoncountycourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Dinasia-Murray.jpg?w=1014&amp;ssl=1 1014w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 238px) 100vw, 238px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fatal motor\nvehicle-pedestrian collision<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At about 5 p.m. Dec. 14, Utica Police units were dispatched\nnear the intersection of Lansing and Mohawk streets regarding a motor vehicle\naccident between a vehicle and a pedestrian; the pedestrian, later identified\nas 20-year-old Dinasia Murray, was pronounced deceased a short time later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Utica Police Accident Reconstruction Team conducted a\nfull reconstruction and evaluation of the scene. Mohawk Street between Rutger\nStreet and Lansing Street was blocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investigation is in very early stages and will remain ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investigation is\nbeing undertaken by members of the Utica Police Department\u2019s Accident Reconstruction\nTeam and members of The Criminal Investigations Division.
